Northwest Hills House No. 1

Austin, Texas. A split-level 1970’s ranchhouse was transformed into a fresh, welcoming home for two New York City transplants. The kitchen was completely redesigned with bespoke cabinetry and professional appliances. A band of warm mahogany weaves across the verdant green and crisp white cabinetry, creating functional open storage for dishes, books, spices and the couple’s collection of miniature Japanese figurines. In the living room, a bulky wall-to-wall fireplace and storage unit was replaced with an understated fireplace surround of black unglazed porcelain tiles, the same material the clients witnessed daily in the NYC subway system murals. The clients have a growing collection of contemporary art that feels at home with the mix of vintage and new furnishings that Scott helped source.
